The Hotfoot Specials

The Hotfoot Specials hail from the Marshes of Sussex and Heathlands of Greenwich London.

The Hotfoots return to the North Shropshire Big Weekend in 2024 as a trio. The band is influenced by the early old time Cajun sounds that were found in the dance halls of Southwest Louisiana and like nothing more than to play for dances celebrating the Cajun music and the UK Cajun scene.

Chris Murphy – Accordion Vocals Chris grew up in Nashville Tennessee, surrounded by American traditional music within his family. It was inevitable he would end up, continuing that tradition.

Kirsten Hammond – Fiddle Lancashire born Kirsten has played Violin from childhood. Later living in Greenwich she played in a number of bands and sessioned on a number of recordings, whilst still finding time to play at many English and London Irish sessions. Kirsten is now found in Sussex where she recently moved and has been a regular in the Sussex sessions, Old Time scene and Cajun music.

Martin Brown – Guitar Martin has been a part of the South London music scene for most of his adult life, playing in a number of blues, funk, swing bands. He also played in Gypsy Jazz band with Kirsten making them a great combination. Martin also plays traditional English music on fiddle
