Big Weekend Festival Info 2024

Welcome to the eleventh North Shropshire Big Weekend. Thank you for joining us for a foot-tapping, boogaloo-busting weekend of music and dance. Here are just a few points of information to help you have a safe and fun-filled event.

The Big Weekend Campsite

There is plenty of room for all those wishing to camp. The campsite is open from midday on Friday 9th August and closes midday on Monday 12th August. Tents, caravans, camper vans and motorhomes are all welcome. The campsite is situated in Welshampton village, close to the Parish Hall. Campsite facilities will include portable toilets, running water, and a wash-up area. Showers are also available to campers in the Parish Hall from 8am until midnight .
Please be aware that our campsite is a farmer’s field for 361 days of the year so we can only provide limited facilities. We have no electric hook-up and a low-pressure supply of running water on the field.
Drinking water is available at the village hall. If possible, please bring your own supply of water.

Disabled Access

The village hall has disabled access. The campsite is not wheelchair accessible.

Dogs

Important: Please note that the land owner operates a ‘STRICTLY NO DOGS’ policy on the campsite. Dogs are allowed on the village hall car park but not inside the hall itself.

Crossing the road

Please take great care at all times when crossing the road in Welshampton. It is a main road and although there is a 30mph limit , vehicles often travel much faster.

Night time revels

The village of Welshampton always gives the Big Weekend visitors a very warm welcome so please help keep our villagers happy by keeping noise to a minimum after 11pm.

Food and drink

The Sun Inn in the village serves food from 11am and offers a 10 per cent discount to weekend ticket holders. The box office/coffee kiosk will be open for tea, coffee, snacks and ice creams from 8am. A food stall will also be available at selected times during the festival.

Cash machines and shops

Unfortunately, there is no cash machine in the village. The nearest is in Ellesmere which is about three miles away. Ellesmere is also the nearest place for shopping where there are supermarkets and town centre traders who would welcome your custom.

Security and lost property

Our security team are a friendly bunch who adopt a low profile.

They are here to make sure things stay safe and secure for everyone involved. Please help by looking after one another and keeping any valuables out of sight and locked away. Lost property should be handed to a steward – you’ll spot them in their festival low-viz vests.

First Aid

There will always be first aiders around the site – just ask a steward. There is a first aid kit in the coffee kiosk/box office. In an emergency never hesitate to dial 999 from a mobile phone telling the operator you are in Welshampton, near the parish hall.

Festival Tent

Our festival tent is available to all weekend ticket holders for relaxing, jamming and workshops. It will be the venue for our late night Acoustic jam sessions. Please be aware these must end at 2am.

Rubbish

We try to avoid waste at the festival so please recycle your rubbish in the marked bins on the campsite and at the parish hall. Even better, you can always take your rubbish home with you and recycle it there.
